Re: Xnviewmp command line parameters ?

I would like to see a "-path" switch to pass the path to XnviewMP that should be opened in browser.
Then you could pass dynamically the directory to load upon launch instead of only launching the last used directory or always the same standard one.

Re: Password protect database?

This should be posted in "General Support". I am assuming you are referring to the thumbnail database as image database. AFAIK there is no way to encrypt the database. However you are free to move the database(s) to an encrypted drive or you can exclude the specific paths from being thumbnailed from...

Re: Copy Categories from one photo to another

(What I do as a workaround atm is that I select both photos and I open up all the Categories and click on the ones with the black rectangles) It is easier to use category sets for that. Select both photos. In section assigned the assigned categories will be displayed. They appear bold for categorie...

Re: A couple of questions about MP

On the upper right I'd need Categories, while I have Category Sets in the lower right (or vice versa). You can't do this atm, because the Category and the Category Set goes to the same window. The Properties can stay with the Categories (swap between them). Categories and category sets can be displ...

Re: Better use of Category Sets

Category Sets are a great way fasten up work with Categories. I feel however that it could be even better. Here is a suggestions: Make it possible to drop a whole Category Set on a photo/photos. For example I have a Set name "Vacation 2005" with these words: "summer, vacation, 2005, Indonesia". I s...

Re: A couple of questions about MP

Thanks for the answer. Yes, but with one change: Layout.jpg On this layout all the Categories and Category Sets would always be accessible, so it would be ideal for this kind of work. The Creation of new Category Sets could happen in the bottom right window (for example by a right click context men...

Hello,
It would be nice if the Move dialog has a "Create new folder" button so it would allow to move files/folders to a new folder, creating it on the fly.
While there is no such button you can simply type the complete new path into the input field. Then the folder gets created on the fly.

Re: [0.91 b4] Categories search is case sensitive

I am bumbing this as the bug is still present in 0.93.1.

I don't understand why the regex search in the quick search input field is not case sensitive, while it is case sensitive when using the category search input field. This is not consistant and should not be too hard to fix?

Under win10, I can have thumbnails for mkv or webm files
Under Linux, it fails to generated them
Let me add following issue to this as it might be a similar cause: On Windows we see only 1 thumbnail generated for any .webm and .mkv although show 4 thumbnails in video's thumbnail has been enabled.

I don't know if this helps but if you simply use CTRL+C on the file and CTRL+V to paste into notepad, you'll see that the path and file name gets pasted.

I would like to retrieve photos which at the same time have the categories Trees + Meadow + Sky. I do not want to see photos with only sky.
In categories filter select "ALL" via drop down. Then select the desired categories while holding STRG.

Re: How to backup the Rating and other info in case I format my PC?

How to backup the Rating and other info in case I format my PC? Check under tools->settings->integration->paths where you are storing your files. Typically you want to backup xnview.ini, xnview.db, thumb.db that you will find in those paths. Normally I put them into extra user folder. For XnView.in...

[93.1] Filter not applied on files added

1. Go to a directory with files and apply a quick search filter 2. Make sure some results get displayed 3. Now add some files that do not match the filter I think on a filtered view when files are added, they should not show up if they do not meet the filter criteria. But they show up making the fil...
