Created Date (file) in MP Linux: how and why?
I find it curious that some files I've viewed in the MP Browser, Info pane, that happened to have been copied from my Windows machine, still have "Date Created" in among their info details. I can understand that it would be helpful for folks running the Windows and Mac OS X builds of MP to have this...

Another reason to bring ExifTool to Classic.

Linux - tarball vs precompiled -- differences?
The two or three times I've tried MP so far, I've downloaded the precompiled versions. I've noticed other people on this forum talking about feature X or function Y, which I've never seen in the concurrent builds I've "installed." So if anyone has tried the former in one Linux and the latter in anot...

Re: List of missing features (compared to XnView Classic)
IS MP supposed to be an improvement over Classic? By no means. MP is a "parallel build," for want of a better phrase: the same application on the three "platforms" of Mac OS X, the numerous flavours of Linux, and Windows. Years ago, Pierre wrote a Linux version of XnView; instead of doing the same ...

Re: Export IPTC
Hello!I have a question: what does it mean and causes the function to Export IPTC and EXF and where is exported? To make it easier to find photos I built your categories and each assigned a photos. Congratulations! in your program, it works when searching for photos. What will happen in the event of...

Browser Search by tags needs work.
Needs more fields under IPTC for one thing. And a search for "Car" in a folder of over 100 JPEG images, with "Exact phrase" clicked, brought up images where "car" (lower case) appeared in the middle of a word (such as "sidecar.") Still, you're doing better than Picmeta's PIE free version--that appli...

Re: read files order ? from folder
I've given up trying to remember what each one is called; too often I get the "names" wrong anyway. It's like when referring to USB hubs: which is "bus-powered" and which is "self-powered"? (Should there even be a "bus-powered" nowadays anyway?). But I've noticed XnView sorts almost identically to L...

Re: Complete XMP support
I vote for adding .MIE as a metadata export format for XnView across the board. I also vote for adding Exiftool in some form to The Windows Native Versions. It's already in MP. If Audacity can have its ffmpeg, then XnView-Windows can certainly have ExifTool. I don't know if Audacity's author underto...

Re: Question about the browser XMP tab in 1.97.4
If i check, there no CR+LF or CR or LF, only SPACE :( Do you mean in the XMP block itself? If so then yes, that is what I was saying before. The XMP tab in XnView reflects exactly the formatting that was written by the last program to write the XMP block. What I was referring to was as follows: If ...

Re: XMP Tab in browser - Let's finally bring...
In the last two years, but likely not as many versions, I've opened countless JPEG files in the Viewer to which I have, myself, written XMP data. For how many of them did I see an XMP tab in the Properties window? Not a single one. It can't be that difficult to add one. I'm not asking for a re-forma...

Re: XMP Tab in browser - Let's finally bring...
Thank you rra ... so the "toggle switch" is the same as for the EXIF and IPTC tabs then? It won't display what it doesn't "see"? I'll give it a try by viewing one example file with XMP written into it in both builds (Win32 and MP in Linux) and prove it to myself. If anything's amiss, you can be sure...

Re: Question about the browser XMP tab in 1.97.4
If I was able to, I'd attach a text file to show the differences. Text attachments can be uploaded as ZIP archives. Thanks for the quick reply. I should have mentioned that this iPad is, for the time being and the foreseeable future, the only device I have @ home with Internet; I cannot get the tex...

Re: Question about the browser XMP tab in 1.97.4
I have figured out why the XMP code in the Browser tab looks the way it does in the Win32 version. If XMP Is written to a JPEG file by XnView or ExifTool, it appears "normal," i.e., line-by-line as though one were viewing it in a text editor. When it's written by EXIV2, however, it appears "flat," a...

From pre-compiled to C-Y-O -- how soon?
I think I keep missing some things in the Linux build of Xnview MP, and I think I've figured out why. Anything pre-compiled and launched with a script written to scan for available resources on an installed Linux distribution is bound to miss a few things, or have the wrong resource paths written in...
