Re: MP 0.81 (Ubuntu): Problems with thumbnails in browser

Still doing it, just as described. Any thoughts?

Re: MP 0.81 (Ubuntu): Problems with thumbnails in browser

Just did it again. I have been testing, opening from files both with and without saved tabs. I had rebuilt the database, and it seemed to be behaving for the last week, under all conditions. Now I just downloaded a batch of photos from my android phone to a folder, and opened by clicking on one of ...

Re: MP 0.81 (Ubuntu): Problems with thumbnails in browser

Yes, I do that sometimes. I will do some more testing to see if there is a correlation. My impression is that the thumb corruption can happen whether I did that on the session or not, but I'm not sure. In any case, it probably happens more when I save and reopen tabs.

Re: MP 0.81 (Ubuntu): Problems with thumbnails in browser

Is this significant? I can't say that every time I open from a file this happens. I said "many times" this happens. Very often. I Can say that the corruption of thumb associations only happens when I have opened from a file, never otherwise.

Re: MP 0.81 (Ubuntu): Problems with thumbnails in browser

I'm picking this thread back up, the issue persists, and I'm tearing my hair out.

* Most times when I open XnView from a file, thumbs in that folder are corrupted.
* Corruption consists of substitution of many thumbs in that folder with thumbs from random other folders, often all from one or two ...

Re: New version, some bugs remain

Yes, still doing it. I opened from saved tabs, closed, asked not to save, open again, (this always takes 2 times) checked that only one file is opening, closed fully again, opened again from a new file in a folder that had not experienced the scrambled thumbs yet, and sure enough, the thumbs were ...

Re: New version, some bugs remain

This is crazy, it's doing it again. I'm talking about the corrupted thumbnails issue. I rebuilt the thumb database after your last reply, and that seemed to fix it, so I let it go. It worked properly for a few days, then it started again. Not sure how I can help you reproduce it, but I remember the ...

Re: New version, same unresolved bugs

I rebuilt the thumb database. So far it's ok, seems like that may have worked.

I found the sort setting, that worked.

Hasn't crashed since the first week or so after install.

Thanks

Re: New version, same unresolved bugs

Thanks Pierre

1) I've tried clean .ini on .82, not on .83 yet. Happy to share, attaching.

2) I've looked around for setting, can't find it. Didn't know there was another way to sort in browser other than by name, or why that wouldn't be default. I haven't knowingly changed it. It seems to already ...

New version, some bugs remain

Sorry to say, I absolutely love XnView, and rely on it constantly, but after updating to MP .83 x64 I'm finding only slight changes to the problems that are making me groan daily. I've reported all of these previously, trying to give you complete information here to help with development. Please ask ...

Re: Problems with thumbnails in browser

Yes, it's inconsistent, but happens most of the time.

While we're at it here's another odd bug that keeps coming up: When I have settings open, and go into background color dialog, then select and copy the hexidecimal value, the whole thing freezes up. Settings and select color dialog look normal ...

Re: Problems with thumbnails in browser

Did that. Wiped my settings, but no change in behavior. In fact, now I can confirm that it's corrupting the thumbs in the folder of the file I open from, even when no saved tabs are in queue.

Re: Problems with thumbnails in browser

I don't know what the base path setting is, I normally use the setting "for Save As use original path name", but why would that affect this except for a bug. Anyway, this is still going on. I just updated to MP 0.82 x64, no change. I'm on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

When I open from a file it invariably ...
