Old question, abandoned by author, but maybe somebody else will look for an answer.
So, there's some places usually used for saving keywords:
IPTC:Keywords
IPTC:Subject
XMP:Subject
Exif:XPKeywords
When saving tags with edit XMP in XNView, it saves it as XMP:Subject, when by IPTC, it saves it as ...

Re: XMP edit window saves tags as IPTC and can't read them later
Salut! Sure, three files:
test.CR2 - original, with my standard tag (yeah, I know, there's Darwin Core, but still that's more convenientfor me)
test with source.CR2 - file with source set via edit XMP in XnViewMP (in info panel shows as IPTC, in IPTC edit shows up, but not in XMP edit )

XMP edit window saves tags as IPTC and can't read them later
Hey!
In short: XMP source gets saved as IPTC, so XnViewMP can't read this tag, as it's never really saved.
I encountered the following problems:
1)
When I open Metadata>Edit XMP, and when I edit source (also origin, possibly more, I tested with these) it saves it as IPTC (according to exiftool ...

Re: Sidecar image switch - request for ideas of achieving the task
I thought about it and it's so far the best I can do, but there are some cons to native function - a) weights a lot, b) if I'd mark/delete/move image, then it would be TIFF, not original, c) I couldn't compare two images by switching over and over to prev/next because with every switch it would ...

Sidecar image switch - request for ideas of achieving the task
tl;dr I need way to switch to other image (sidecar image; mask) corresponding to the original image.
I've got a problem and I wonder if XnViewMP could be used somehow in solving that. I'll try to explain it, but just in case I'll add numbered list of basic needs. When I'm reviewing images I want to ...

ZIP archives as image collection
As a photographer I'm looking for some way to have single file, yet a few photos inside, e.g. focus stack or original raws and processed photos. I don't want to be bound by particular format of file and I can't recode them.
I've got an idea how ideal way would look. ZIP (or any other) archives ...

Preview of filter doesn't obey selection [performance]
Preview for filter shows preview for the whole image, even if there's selection. After clicking OK it applies only to selection, so the problem is only with preview.
It might seem minor, but I just wanted to use a filter (gaussian blur) on small part of big image. I had to wait about 5 seconds for ...

Can you close it? I forgot it's XnViewMP, so Windows-only stuff is pointless.

Re: 0.86 64 bits: Can’t open files with long full path
Not a bug, as long as user didn't opt-in to new path length limits (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... 85%29.aspx). In other case such files shouldn't exist and they are simply erroneous.

Remote control (WAPI msg) XnViewMP
Hello!
I know I'm not typical user. I always try to automatize things, script them. How one would interact with tool by sending messages?
Let me show it on the example of MPC-HC and my non-brand RC (from some tv card; you can get a virtual keyboard on the smartphone and use wifi, but it won't be ...

Re: Doesn't delete in 'view' mode
I renamed the file and it works. Also when I changed the line from "cmd_deleteFile ," (JMM72 hack; I've got pl locale, so I had to use comma instead dot) to "cmd_deleteFile" it works as well. Sadly I don't know what has been there before applying JMM72 hack :/

Re: Only one file in instance
Not yet, but that sounds exactly like the thing I need. Thanks a lot!
BTW wouldn't it be better to save session not on XnViewMP close, but on file open? This way I'd have (using my example):
1) A
2) AB
3) ABC
4) ABCD
Which is the same as opened files. Saving on close causes it to be A>B>AC>AD.
