Of course, as I'm sure you realize, the EXIF:ImageDescription tag would need to be deleted entirely. An empty field would be picked up by Windows as a blank caption and still interfere. I think deleting the tag entirely would be a good solution.

Here is information about two test files I used yesterday. I used XnViewMP to write a Comment. I then wrote a Caption using XnViewMP. I then wrote a new Comment using XnviewMP.
