Please refer to screenshot sent of filelocation and find attached screenshot with (part of) files in location on my desktop I:/Foto's/Nikon/Basis-JPG/Nrd_Spanje (more files and with content than presented by Xnview; only 14 files)

Thanks user0 for your assistance. But I haven't changed the base location of my photos for a long time. So I see no need to apply the conversion of the path as you suggested.

@cday: using XnViewMP with administrator rights doesnot solve the issue.

Sorry, My apologies: I mixed up replies with situation on my desktop where I donot have the problem as described. So this problem exists under W10 on laptop but not on W11. On the laptop I do have the .ini file in the program folder and not in the user folder.

No, not in the program folder; I have my xnview.ini in the user file (user|appdata\Roaming\XnviewMP)
