Filter for a category does not select sub-categories, why?

Assume I have a photo labelled with sub-category "Mantis" within "Insects" (using the menu "Categories"). If I use "Categories FIlter" to click "Insects", I do not get the photo labelled "Mantis" selected, why? (using XnView MP MacOSX Versi...

Set category: time to complete operation?

When we select a large number of pictures and want to set a common category to all of them (i.e., trip name for all pictures of a given trip), how long we have to wait to make sure the category has been set to all pictures? There is no "OK" button and/or message telling the user to wait or...

Re: Thumbails and external drives

Yes. It is a very useful feature in case the user has photos in different external drives. Currently users can search across external drives thanks to have the db on the internal hard drive but not see the thumbnails. If thumbnails were (optionally) stored on the internal drive also, the user could ...

Re: Thumbails and external drives

Is this a feature that you contemplate to introduce in forthcoming versions?
I really miss it compared to lightroom asset management tool.

Re: Duplicated pictures

in your db i see that you have same filename but for 2 different folders "/Volumes/LACIE1TB/FOTOS/201609_FOTOS_TESIS_JOAN/" & "@201609_FOTOS_TESIS_JOAN/" It seems that you have changed the base path? You need to delete one of them in settings>Catalog ok. What does the "...

Re: Duplicated pictures

strange, and if you use context menu 'open containing folder' on these 2 duplicates, it's the same source? If I select 'open containing folder' for each thumbnail of any pair in both cases the folder is the same: /Volumes/LACIE1TB/FOTOS/201609_FOTOS_TESIS_JOAN/ which is the one listed in Properties...

Display thumbnails of photos in external drives even if drive is not connected

I think that, when having photos in external drives, being able to see the thumbnails even if the external drive is not connected would be very convenient: you can search, visualize the thumbnails, select the photo(s) and then connect the appropriate external drive to display the photo. This feature...

Thumbails and external drives

Once I have catalogued a folder from an external drive, I was assuming that thumbnails would be displayed even if the external drive is not connected, but now I see that I'm kind of "losing" thumbnails: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_LsZU5NlOztVWFpbU1YcENfcnc So my question: is it pos...

Re: Duplicated pictures

Re: name of external drive in different computers

If the base path of your pictures folder are not the same, you should use 'base path' settings>catalog I do not understand: What should I write in in the box named "Base path of your pictures"? Should I write 'base path'? or /Volumes/LACIET1B/FOTOS which is where my fotos live? At this mo...

name of external drive in different computers

I have moved the folder xnviewmp (including the *.db files) to my synced Google Drive folder and I can successfully use xnviewmp from different computers once I put the correct settings. Nevertheless, the problem is that while I can search and see the thumbnails correctly, the information on the act...

Duplicated pictures

I copied (with the MacOS Finder) picture files that were filed already in XnView MP and then copied them to a new directory, filed them again and deleted the former directory (yes, a silly thing to do, I'm just a beginner...). Is there any way to eliminate all files of the former directory from the ...
