It is indeed true that the image is 32bits. But Thunderbird obviously supports 32bit images. Example:

- Open an image with Xnview MP
- Copy it to the clipboard by pressing [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[c]
1. Open Thunderbird
- Open a new email
- Insert the image from the clipboard to the email message by pressing [Ctrl]+[v]
→ This adds a thin grey line above the image.

I found a solution that makes Xnview start much faster. Go to:
- Tools > Options > System integration > Save options
- Choose «in registry» instead of «as INI in folder»
