I often move image files using other program, and it takes a while to generate thumbnails again in xnview-mp. I'm curious if embedding a thumbnail into the image would speed up the process.

yes, something like this will be much easier for navigate.

is it possible show the folders as tree view in "Favorites" panel?
or
change the root of the "Folders" panel?

You are using XnView MP 0.98 which is quite an old version now, you might consider updating to the current 0.99.1 version and testing again, this does look like a Ghostscript version compatibility issue.


It is my bad, with the latest version, Version 0.99.1 64bits (Sep 23 2021) on windows 10 ...

It is working now! I think I did something wrong with MS paint.
Just incase, this is my settings.

"update catalog from files" no update the xmp and iptc keywords for category

How to reproduce it.
Use MS paint create new jpg file and save
modify the category in XnViewMP
Use MS paint create new jpg file and replace the old one
"update catalog from files" will not update the catalog.
