Re: MP version 1.9.4: Catalog Filter>Properties>Orientation not functioning correctly

xnview wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 7:39 am Ok, it works here. So please try 'update catalog from files' with these 'bad' files?
Yessss!

That worked perfectly and now the "Orientation" property is working perfectly at least for me.

Off to the "Closed/Resolved" forum for this one!

Re: MP version 1.9.4: Catalog Filter>Properties>Orientation not functioning correctly

Bonjour Pierre,

Better, but not completely resolved.

I first re-updated metadata at Tools > Settings >Catalog.

Then, I searched orientation with "Current folder" or "Current folder (Recursive)." This works much better now, with both "Landscape" and "Portrait" now returning results.

The portrait ...

could you send us some sample files shown when using 'Catalog Filter > Match: "Global" > Properties > Landscape '?
Do I assume correctly that you would like to have portrait-oriented samples?

Re: MP version 1.9.4: Catalog Filter>Properties>Orientation not functioning correctly

I can't reproduce, do you have used "Settings>Catalog>Update metadata"?

Yes, I did update the catalog's metadata (prompt with the new version).

I just re-updated them again just to be safe (and restarted the program) and the problem is still present.

I'll add also that there's a certain ...

Re: Is it possible to show Affinity Photo files with full resolution?

I suspect that this issue is all about what the raw development software does itself.

The preview embedded in a .afphoto file is indeed small, and that's surely the case for acdsee as well. Adobe must embed a full-size preview in their .psd files.

I think those previews are the only thing xnview ...

Search EXIF:ISO value: lower values exceeding 6400 to 6400

That title's going to be confusing.

This concerns using the Search function with the condition "EXIF:ISO value."

First, am I correct that the ISO value is limited to 6400? And am I right that the limit has something to do with how iso numbers are coded in exif data (e.g. ExifToolGUI can only go up ...

+1. This indeed would be a useful addition.

EDIT: Although it might be a good idea to impose a modifier key, e.g. Ctrl + left click, instead of just left click, to avoid accidental zooms.

new in 1.9.2 or has that been there all along?

Well, now I'm confused.

I just downloaded 1.9.2 and saw that at Tools > Settings > Browser > Toolbar, there is a dropdown box giving the user 4 different choices for how the Filelist Toolbar behaves.

Is that new in this latest version? If so, thank you!

Or has that been there all along? If so ...

Make the Filelist Toolbar completely user-definable and organizable (instead of dispersed across two bars)

As of version 1.9.0, the Filelist Toolbar has become two bars: one situated above the file window, and another situated below it, which only appears after adding certain tools.

I thought this was a bug at first , turns out it isn't . Because this latter discussion is located in the Bug reports ...

Re: Browser - filelist - add statusbar

Having discovered this post from my bug report that wasn't one (thanks user0 for the link), I'm glad to see the question of the Filelist Toolbar under discussion.

I think it would be fair to say that everyone uses the Filelist Toolbar in their own way.

The current bar has some elements that are ...

Ah... I see...

I suppose that change is explained by the post User0 linked to?

I'm very conscious of the fact that there's no way to satisfy everyone, but that means that Filelist toolbar tools are now on ... 2 different toolbars.

XnView: MP 1.9.0 - 64 bit

Updating to version 1.9.0 changed my Filelist Toolbar setup, and making changes at Tools > Settings > Browser > Toolbar does not change the toolbar itself, with the exception of "Favorites" and "Quick search", even after restarting.
