I just discovered that myself. See my comment to my bug report on AVI files and make "Show as thumbnail" the DEFAULT setting!

I just discovered than XnView has an option in the settings to display thumnails for video files, which by defautl is switched off!!!

Which moron made that the default setting? And why hasn't anybody from the bug handling team mentioned it?

For the benefit of anybody else who might be reading this ...

The same applies to .MOV files.

The latest version of XnView MP (and the previous versions) shows neither a thumbnail nor a preview picture in the browser. I can open and display the file. Here is the MediaInfo report for an example file:

Since the file CAN be viewed with XnView classic it's unlikely that it is damaged. Anyway, here is the text report from MediaInfo:

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

The attached screen dumps show XnView MP and XnView Classic (latest versions, installed today!), both with the same file selected.
Classic can show the first image of the .AVI file, MP cannot. Classic can run the video in the preview pane, MP cannot.

Neither of ...

Version 1.7.2 can display video clips in .avi format. Version 1.8.0 cannot.

I have the same problem; I notice that Pierre has asked for a sample file, but it looks like nobody has sent him one.
