I am a bit confused how you moved from my dark image to your nicely bright one.

Did you use Levels exclusively?

Image>Adjust>Levels?

I see Five options on that page. Which one do I use and which way do I move them to get to ...

Clarification: converted to RGB 8 bits per component

What does this mean?

"This picture will be converted to RGB 8 bits per component"

Why does this message pop up when I load files?

Is this conversion an enhancement or softening of the image?

Or is just the way the software standardizes images?

I searched for an answer but could not find a ...

Thanks for your replies.

The Books Scanner looks to be clever and interesting.
I managed to open the tiff file and rotate it from the menu.
Yes I was referring to what you call "EXIF" data.

I was right clicking on my image then going to the bottom of that menu to "Properties"
