I have managed to sort it out and I think the problem was my Safari Browser which simply couldn't handle the website.
When I tried with the Brave Browser all the download buttons etc. worked and I was able to open windows that were just not working on Safari.

My current XNView keeps telling me to download the latest version for my Mac.

I don't really understand what you are saying. I selected General and Browser and Insert but the only items I could add were Camera Make and Lens. Unfortunately I could not make them appear.
