Here is a way to use vbs script to open xnviewmp with a special ini file and send keystroke shortcuts to it. In this case I am opening the import utility with the keystroke shortcut which I preassigned. This works without installing a third party app like autohotkey.

Is there a way the import/sort utility could be made to open to open as the default view in xnviewmp, and closing out from import/sort would close out xnviewmp? This would allow calling on import/sort and closing it easily when this is the only operation that needs to be accomplished.

So no need to change xnviewmp as info is already being passed with "open with" command.

My example works better setting an environment variable with set command in batch file, as spaces in path name could be an issue otherwise.
Tested, worked in win11.

"xnviewmp -capture=import -ini=importpics.ini" could open import/sort directly with customized-for-import ini file, close xnviewMP when capture is finished?

Agree.

Checkbox would allow selection to be remembered through .ini file, so across selections.

Also as possible change: on import/sort dialog change "OK" to "Import" for clarity.

Don't know why pm failed. I just sent pm with link again (4/20/25) with subject header "Import/Sort fails to import videos in a certain situation LRF" to user xnview.

Sent a link to test folder and dialogue for import/sort by pm to xnview.

It fails the same way in win10 or win11, with current version of xnviewmp.

Okay, so I was able to remember how to set "import and sort" so that non-media files can be imported. This can work. It is possible to import html files (and so probably other files?) using this method. I have only used this with html files.
