When I change color label outside current version of XnView, in older versions of XnView, or other software, color label not updating according to XMP data. How to make it to update?

Is it possible to set just Color label field, without Rating instead of "Rating + Color Label"? I have tried type in Custom Field: {Color Label}, but it doesn't work. Or maybe I can hide stars indicator under thumbnail, for files that doesn't have ratings, somehow?

Standard icons for labels and stars so tiny, i barely see them. Is there any option to solve this problem? Maybe some colored background for images, basing on labels, or maybe something else? I searched for png of this icons in program folder, but nothing there, just interface icons. How to change ...
