I haven't tested it extensively but it looks good so far.
One more issue:
In Settings--->General--->Startup
I set
Open= "Viewer"
Start without file
Open browser
Directory=Last
But after exit and restart I had to navigate from scratch through my whole partition to get to my testimages directory ...

Bad.
A 1451 x 21565 image is shown like in the attached snapshot.
We agreed that the the image is shown in 100%
But this is not the case

Observations:
1.) XnViewMP test version restores the OUTER window dimensions after reverting to Gallery View. Good.
Bad: it does NOT restore the vertical delimiter boundary position between the treeview pane on the left and the gallery pane on the right.

There are some heavy bugs in this function. It is at most in pre-alpha state.
This is surprising since in XnView classic this feature is working good.
When will XnViewMP catch up to XnView classic?

Re: Gallery view+Status bar: Disable color depth and aspect ratio in image properties info
If you look on
Settings>Browser>Statusbar
then there is NO separate checkbox for
width x height
and
color depth and aspect ratio
users can enable all image properties or none.
So I ask again:
Is it possible to add a "show width x height only" checkbox at the mentioned dialog?

Assume I am currently in Gallery view.
The current folder contains multiple images. Among them
aaa.jpg 80x80
bbb.jpg ....
....
I setup in settings--->View--->Auto-Image size=Fit windows to image
Reset 'Auto image size' settings with next/previous file=YES
Now I double click on aaa.jpg thumbnail ...

Gallery view+Status bar: Disable color depth and aspect ratio in image properties info
Assume I open Gallery view for a folder with some images in XnView MP and mark one of the photos.
Then just below the marked photo a lot of information is listed e.g.
dummy.jpg 1400x1050x24, 17.09.2021 09:58
Similarly in the Status bar image properties appear (for the marked photo) e.g.:

How to migrate settings from XnView classic to XnViewMP?
Is there a way to import the current XnView classic settings into XnViewMP (and setup additional settings with defaults)?
I miss an Import/Export menu.
Similarly I miss a menu "Backup/Restore" for XnViewMPs own settings.
How can I achieve this?
