Re: F3 no longer working to open image in designated app

It's amazing how writing something out helps my brain process things. So, out of curiosity, I removed Gimp from the context menu, relaunched XnView, and F3 now works to launch a selected image. I think this happened when I was trying out a different keyboard and the function keys were messed up so I ...

F3 no longer working to open image in designated app (SOLVED)

I had to reinstall XnView MP a few months ago and was very happy that the F3 shortcut had started working again on my Windows 10 system, so that it matched my Linux system. Now, a few months later, F3 has stopped working and I am back to having to use alt+1 for opening images in GIMP. Is there a way ...

Re: Renaming not actually changing file names

I am using batch rename.
My curiosity is why XnView displayed the new file names when, in fact, the file names hadn't actually been changed. For example, I have the contents of a directory displayed in XnView. I select all and rename them to PeteWhistling-0001 through 0100. XnView displayed that ...

Re: Renaming not actually changing file names

Okay, this is mildly embarrassing. I just started running XnView in a sandbox and, while I am familiar with the concept, this is all new to me in practice.
I changed my sandbox settings so that XnView can write to one directory and it is now working properly.

What I still don't understand is why ...

Re: Renaming not actually changing file names

If I rename in Explorer, XnView will read the new file names correctly. If I rename in XnView the files are untouched.

Also, this is a local hd and permissions for the folders tested are set to allow Everyone Full Control, as inherited from the drive.

Edit 2; I just uninstalled, rebooted and ...

Renaming not actually changing file names [Solved, sandbox issue]

I just went through multiple folders of images to rename them. XnView displays the new names. However, Windows Explorer still displays the old names and I opened another image browser (Photo Mechanic) and it displays the old file names as well. I am confident that I am working on the correct hd. I ...

Re: External Media Not Displaying After Updating

Actually your question was enough to help. Yesterday, I just installed from my Linux software manager and didn't notice that the website has a more recent version. Software manager has 93.1 which I just removed and then installed 98, which works as expected.

Thank you very much!

External Media Not Displaying After Updating [Solved]

I have been using an older version of XnView on my Linux Mint Machine. It worked great but became a bit of a memory hog so I decided to try the latest version. In the old version, I could go to Computer under folders and it would display Media (I think that is what it was called) and when I opened ...
