Hello Pierre,
I have used time to exchange tags and ratings between different programs like XnView MP, Darktable, F-Stop etc. This seems to be a bottomless pit as many things work but not reliably enough.
So I will stop these attempts and concentrate on XnView MP as the leading program for tagging ...

Re: Saving ratings in both jpeg metadata and sidecar simultaneously
Hello Pierre,
as far as I am concerned, the function is not yet available in XnView MP v1.9.1:
My workflow:
1: the camera creates a RAW and a JPG for each shot
2: RAW and JPG are linked as companion files in XnView MP
3: after the import into XnView MP, I view and evaluate (stars and colors) the ...

Re: Simultaneous annotation and categorization of related RAW and JPG files
Hi Pierre,
A considerable amount of time has now passed since my inquiry/request. There have also been various new versions of Xnview MP in the meantime.
Is there any chance that my suggestion will be taken up and implemented?
Thank you very much!

Hi Pierre,
This really seems to be a duplicate.
If you continue to follow the topic under jkm's thread, you are welcome to close my request.
When can we expect the post viewtopic.php?f=95&t=47238 to be implemented?

Re: Simultaneous annotation and categorization of related RAW and JPG files
Hi Pierre,
No, what I mean is: Color Label (red, yellow, green,... and Rating (0-5 stars).
I use these markers to control my subsequent workflow.
As it is now, after reviewing and labeling the JPG, I have to adjust the RAW according to the JPG labels. This is a tedious job

Automatic grouping of duplicated images
Hi,
I use XnViewMP quite intensively for cataloging my photos (tags and description). The rule here is that I keep several files of one photo: RAW + JPG and possibly TIF. All with the same file name, but with corresponding extensions (eg. IMG_1234.RW2 and IMG_1234.JPG)
In Darktable , these files ...

Re: Error by batch rename of RW2-files
Hi, Pierre,
this error no longer occurs.
The cause was probably eliminated during one of the last updates.
The problem report can therefore be closed.
Thank you very much!

Re: problems by handling the descript.ion file during single or batch rename of picture files
Hi Pierre,
the .ARW and .JPG files come directly from my Sony A6600.
Normally I rename the raw files via batch rename immediately after import (as well as the .JPG as companian file).
Example:
DSC01312.RAW as well as DSC01312.JPG rename to 2023-10-22_144020.RAW as well as 2023-10-22_144020.jpg ...
