✅ RESOLVED: To read PDFs, must install Ghostscript -- credit:@cday

Thanks @cday, I installed ghostscript and XnConvert seemed to work fine!

Side note:

The need to install Ghostscript partially defeats the ability to run XnConvert as a portable app (like I do)
I appreciate the info anyway ...

The update checker in XnConvert does not seem to be working , at least in the portable version...

Additional Info...

I use the portable version of XnConvert (i.e. the extracted .zip, rather than the installed version)...
I was using v1.96 which is set to check for updates " weekly "
I haven't ...

I wanted to use XnConvert to clean some PDFs, however the files were not processed correctly at all..

Scenario
When converting a JPG and over-writing the processed image over the original, the thumbnail does not update to reflect the updated image

To re-create
1. Use XnConvert (v1.95 or v1.96) to convert a JPG
2. Add a noticeable action (e.g. crop the image in half)
3. Set the following output ...

From all/multiple (I tried GIF, PNG, TIFF).

UPDATE: Thankfully XnShell has started working again (by itself), but thanks for your help anyway though!... Am not sure if it is related, but I recently removed GIMP 2 from my system -- are there any known compatability issues / resource conflicts with ...
