No, I use the Filter by... icon (the funnel) above the image thumbnails, displayed for the current folder.

Not sure what "edit mode" is, but it's the view opened by double-clicking a thumbnail (apparently ...

Not sure if this is intended behaviour, but to me at least, it is a nuisance/bug:

1. On a file list, apply a Filter by ... with any condition (e.g. all images marked "red" or rated "Good", or whatever). A subset of the images is shown.
2. Double click on any image, or press F11 to display it ...
