At the risk of hijacking the thread; here is how to reproduce the problem on my end.

1. Ensure {Tag status} is set to display in Tools>Settings>View>Info
2. Enter Fullscreen mode on an image and ensure info is displayed "i" to toggle
3. Press Ctrl-t to tag the current image

I don't know. Simply adding a tag to subsequent photos should not "get stuck" after seeing the top pop-up index bar (and hiding it). I don't know what causes this problem.
But I have edited the first description of the problem above, maybe now it will be easier ...

Under button "Filter By" it is missing "Untagged File(s)" category. Only "Tagged" is present.

There is a problem with showing {Tag status} in fullscreen view, after use of top pop-up photo index (mouse move up). It appears from few versions till current.
{Tag staus} don't work properly. At fullscreen If I tag any photo, and then use pop-up top bar, after that checking "tag=yes" shows empty ...

Currently there is no option to set it without brackets.

Settings>View>Info>{tag status} - shows all the time square brackets.

When we select photos, "no/yes" via tagging (which imho is the best and fastest, since the same button causes tag/untag) we would like to focus on the photo, not on the ...

Please remove the square brackets for untagged (especially) and tagged photos too - in full screen view.

This is good idea, thought about this some time ago.
This feature could be handy. For what - for that to make 1, 2, 3, more working sessions from different folders, whitout need of closing one to open another one and see pics.

Sorry about that, just stated that it's a similar case, with some extra improvements added in one time.. and the most important thing is to hide the sign of untagged photo (and empty square brackets from fullscreen) - your main topic :)

A few days ago I was about to make the same post - a completely unnecessary empty box for untagged files, and even more: small marking icons (tag, labels, stars), unnecessary square brackets in fullscreen, and other ways to display tags, labels and stars in different views. Not ...

Checked today with SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless mouse - maybe little better, but still poor comparised to Windows app version (on 10 year old machine).

One more thing, usually coursor (arrow) diasappear at full window view (M1, MacOS Monterey) with all my mouses. Appear when pressed again.

Mouse scroll is buggy, not reacting, sleepy. So important but here totally useless. Using arrows for the same task is fast and accurate.
