Yes, of course, but it would be very helpful if there was at least a confirmation prompt here.
Something like this:
You have made changes to the photo.
Should the modified version be renamed?

renaming after cropping undoes cropping
If I crop an image and then rename it, the cropping is undone.
From my point of view, it should be the case that the cropping is retained.
My version is 1.8.3 64 bit (Windows)

Re: compare, deleting doesn't work
yes,
I have just copied another jpg file into a new folder.
Then I made a copy of the jpg file and renamed it to .bak.
The problem has reappeared.
By the way:
My version is 1.6.2 64-bit (Windows)

compare, deleting doesn't work
I have two photos, one of which has the extension jpg and the other bak.
I call up the Compare function.
I then click on the delete icon to delete the photo with the bak extension. See red marking.
A prompt appears, which I confirm.
But the photo is not deleted afterwards.

Re: Thumbnails on folder icons are displayed rotated incorrectly
It now works perfectly for new folders.
It also works if you go to "Create new thumbnails". See screenshot.
But the existing thumbnails are not updated automatically.
Thanks again for the bugfix.

Re: Transferring the EXIF date from one image to another.
As an idea or suggestion how this function could look like
In the end it would work similar to the already existing "Compare" function
You select two photos,
call the function
and then the window for the function appears.
On the left the photo is displayed with EXIF date.

Thumbnails on folder icons are displayed rotated incorrectly
Thumbnails on folder icons are displayed in landscape orientation instead of portrait orientation when taken with iPhone.
Screenshot attached.
I can provide sample images or sample files from the iPhone, but they are too large to attach here.

Re: Batch renaming error, file names will be mixed
I have installed the latest version
and then tested it four times.
The error did not occur again.
Hopefully it will not occur again in the future.
With the best regards

Transferring the EXIF date from one image to another.
Often additional image files are stored in a folder where the EXIF date does not match the rest of the photos, so the sort order is not correct.
Example:
Photos from a visit to a restaurant or museum:
I took photos of the visit (with correct EXIF date).
And I complete the collection with a scan of ...

cmd_changeTime in Viewer
It would be very helpful if the tool "change timestamp" (cmd_changeTime) could also be used in viewer mode.
Currently it can only be used in the browser.

Re: HEIC thumbnails are displayed in the browser with incorrect rotation
The problem seems to occur mainly when there are many HEIC files in a folder, so many thumbnails need to be created. It seems that the thumnails database has problems with too many HEIC files in a folder.
It might be a temporary solution if it would be possible to rebuild the thumbnails also for ...
