Re: Searching categories is very slow

I'm not on my PC... Binoculars icon, maybe Ctrl F, or File>Search menu
Ah. I've found that some time earlier, and later completely forgotten it.
Either way, that should be referred to as a dialog, rather than a window.

Annoying how it only has the option of including all conditions, or any of all ...

I am well aware of that, but that cannot be referred to as a "search", by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: Showing categories in detail view

Yeah, it would be quite great, as long as you don't have that many categories per file.

Re: Showing categories in detail view

- The "Categories" sideview can become unwieldy if you have many (say 100s of) categories. In contrast, the column would show only the 1 or 2 (or few) that have been applied
There is the Category Sets panel, that shows the categories that have been assigned to the file.

Re: 0.99.7: categories moving about.

do you have a way to reproduce this bug?
Well yeah.
Pretty much what I described in my initial post.
Browse a folder, and then download a file into that folder, and see if categories jump, and/or select a new file and a previous file, and click on a few categories, in the Categories set panel, and ...

Re: Is there an up to date user manual ? CATEGORIES EMPTY

The only place I can get anywhere close to creating a category is when I somehow manage to get the Category Filter tab to show.
Huh?
You should have gotten just as close to creating a category, in the other places…
Here is a picture with screenshots of both the category and category set panes ...

Re: Is there an up to date user manual ? CATEGORIES EMPTY

XnViews use of the word tag, is very, and completely needlessly, confusing and misleading. (it should really use a different word… you "tag" some images, and then you can get a view of just those files. A useful feature …but a very wrong name for it)

…and categories are what everyone else calls ...

Always show category paths, in tooltips

When holding the mouse pointer over a category, I can see the path of the category, in the category tree
…except if I include a description, for the category. (a feature I've recently started to take advantage of)
This seems strange and unnecessary. I want to always be able to see the path.

XnView: MP 0.99.7 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 7 64bit

When I'm in a folder, and I download a new file there, sometimes the categories for the previous file there (in the cases where this has happened, I have sorting by date, with newest first, so the newest file, before the one I just downloaded), are ...

Yes, I thought that, but possibly an icon only for archive formats that XnView MP can open?

Re: Catalog directories, folder importation

I have noticed that the Excluded/Included list, is in the ini-file. (and the import-list is obviously based on the database)
Interesting, and sensible.
There should also be an option, in the same tab as the import-list, to remove folders that are in the exclude-list.
