Re: Version 1.5.0 - Moved/deleted directories & sidecars reappear

Pierre,

I resolved this just yesterday. It wasn't XnView, but CaptureOne that was recreating the directories due to an idiosyncrasy in the software.

Sorry for the wasted time.

Version 1.5.0 - Moved/deleted directories & sidecars reappear

I think this problem might not be easily reproducible, but thought I'd describt=re just the same.This is how I process new photos:

1. Download (Jpeg & RAF/Fuji Raw) from camera into new sub-directory of a directory tree for processing.

2. I delete some, categorize and rate others. I have settings ...

Re: Options available for Browser/Tooltip and View/info?

Yeow, sorry, I never realized the little arrow in the bottom right retrieved all these options. It was listed there as: {EXIF:ISO Value}

Sorry for the distraction. Maybe the arrow could be labeled?

Re: Options available for Browser/Tooltip and View/info?

Also, in the default fields for View/Info, it lists:
"{File Index} - {Filename}
{Format} - {Size KB} KB - {Width}x{Height}"

Where are those field names taken from?

Re: Options available for Browser/Tooltip and View/info?

Thank for responding, Pierre.

In the EXIF panel, under "Image" it lists "ISO speed ratings : 320" (which I just tested again, no go).

Does each camera maker choose their own nomenclature for EXIF info?

Options available for Browser/Tooltip and View/info?

Is there a list of of what options are available and their proper format for Browser/Tooltip and View/info?

The field names don't always agree with what is shown in the pane "Info/EXIF". For instance, {EXIF:F-number} works, but I've tried {EXIF:ISO}, {EXIF:ISO speed}, and {EXIF:ISO speed ratings ...

Companion Files

I want to use the new feature in 1.40 which allows me to limit sidecar creation to raw files, which is working as intended.

But how do I then hide those xmp files?

If in Browser->File List, I uncheck "Show companion files", the accompanying jpg file is also hidden. This seems to occur whether or ...

Re: 1.3.1: Clicking on rating causes zoom lock

No, in the larger preview. If "Settings/Browser/Show ratings" is checked, you can see and set the rating at the bottom of the preview screen by clicking on your choice.

But when I do, it changes the rating, but also zooms in as if I had clicked on any spot of the preview screen. However, when I ...

Re: How to stop bak files being created

I have those same settings. It does not seem to ALWAYS happen, just most of the time.

Here is one more clue:
If under 'export catalog category' , 'Create XMP data' is unchecked, no .bak file is created, even if 'Create IPTC data' IS checked.

Pierre,

I had already unchecked all the "Make backup...." boxes, but that had no effect.

Re: How to stop bak files being created

I have this same issue with vers. 1.3.1.

If I have more than one jpeg thumbnail selected, add categories for them (or edit previously checked categories), then click on one of the selected thumbnails , the .bak file is created. If I click on a file not among the thumbnails selected, no .bak file is ...
