If you can't reproduce it, it may perhaps be a question of saving temporary working data somewhere on the disk, for example because
- database is disabled (>settings >catalog > "enable catalog" off)

Rating kills color profile
One of the 2 ways for rating a jpeg seems to be wrong:
starting point = jpeg with color profile (significantly larger than sRVB)
rating with >tools >metadata >edit xmp , then save : is ok (but quite long)
rating with direct clic on the thumbnail in browser-view
then changing viewed picture and ...

Just tested v 1.4.0, and the matter is always there
In my mind , there are 2 points to solve:
1. to give the ability to choose the color profile when saving the result of a modification (with save, save as, or export) exactly as ">Tools >Batch convert..." or XnConvert do it
