Shortcuts will be amazing improvement.
Efficiency of previous layout was reason why Im using picture browser to edit screenshots. Bcs doing it in gimp, inkscape, etc is much slower.
Floating should be solution :D

Also big improvement should be so object stays editable until save. Like in vector ...

For me is this new interface also more difficult. Old one was much faster as described here: viewtopic.php?p=187920#p187920
If there is an option to switch between new and old design, then it really helps.
