Re: Batch Convert improvements : Resume (or Pause); Background conversion; right-click items
Just to add to this, one of the reasons for being able to slow the batch conversion option is that if you are running one in a hot/humid climate a laptop may overheat and suddenly switch off, especially if it is charging (often a generic battery in many people's cases) whilst running the conversion ...

Folder creation issues
Normally you hit F7 and type and it makes the folder of that name. But if you have a filter, eg jpg, then F7 doesn't show the new folder it just appears at the side unfocused, so when you type the name it is not named. You actually have to click to the side to name it (and that enters it so you lose ...

Re: 1.8.8 - Filelist sort order not reflected in browser
So if there's a problem with using *, some other symbol indicating heading options is fine. I'm conscious that # is a permissable filename character (though admittedly not as the first character of a full path but if relative names become usable, such as relative to the chosen filelist path, it ...

Re: 1.8.8 - Filelist sort order not reflected in browser
This is an important issue.
Some filelists are in a particularised order, some are not.
There does need to be a way to match the filelist order, and ways to switch out of that order and back in.
A number of ways come to my mind to do this, which are not exclusive of each other -

Yes that's my thinking! Resizing would resize the selection.

Resize : Preserve selection (resized)
When resizing an image, if there is an existing selection rectangle it would be helpful to preserve that selection, resized. Currently the selection is discarded.
Undo would restore the prior image+selection.

Lossless Crop question
When you do a lossless crop it says pixels must be multiples of 8 and an adjustment to the size will therefore be made if needed.
However when you crop something to an area clearly not on an 8-step grid (or 16...), the result does not, as expected from the above, have sizing multiples of 8, but the ...

Batch Convert improvements : Resume (or Pause); Background conversion; right-click items
I think the title says it all, unless I've currently missed the obvious -
* There's currently a Stop button on the Batch Convert but no Resume button once you've pressed it. An alternative is to have a Pause button but I think presenting a Resume button in place of the Stop button would be ideal ...

Re: Skip files of the same name when duplicating batch conversions to avoid reloading files repeatedly
It does so for me too, I've had to manually remove the items from the list. I came on to post about it, but see it's been mentioned here already.

Re: Batch Converter : meta-data slow
Hmmm I think it speeds up a lot if I remove all the columns and add only the ones I want. I'm surprised at the difference that makes - I'd have expected a bit, just not quite so much.
So perhaps the other way of looking at it is, are there too many default columns in the Batch Converter?

Batch Converter : meta-data slow
A bug, in the sense of slower than expected.
If I drag 1000 JPG files (that originally came from a camera, now on an SSD) into the batch converter, in the input files section before you action anything it reads through and populates the meta data very slowly (eg 2-3 files per sec, I've not measured ...

Batch Convert : User-entered action headline titles
In the Batch Convert actions, it's good to shrink down common actions to a heading so they don't create a lot of clutter but can just be ticked on and off.
Some of the actions however have the same headings - you might have a 50% resize and a 75% resize and they are currently all just called "Resize ...

Confirm if drag too many files in / escape to interrupt...
I sleepily dragged a very large number of large images into XNView, when I had meant to drag them into a batch conversion. In your mind it's open when of course it's not :) I'm sure I'll not be the first person to do this.

Saving (1.8.3): Rebuild EXIF Thumbnail ON, keep EXIF OFF
With JPEGLI - and presumably JPEG should be checked too - in the scenario in saving where you want to clear the EXIF data but have a thumbnail, you tick "Rebuild EXIF Thumbnail" and untick "Keep EXIF"
The result however appears (using an online meta checker) to contain no thumbnail whereas the logic ...

Re: Save-Copy size on status bar for 3 secs
Well it's just that the ideal place for it is the statusbar, since it would be rather annoying to have it popup anywhere. Typically status bars do get used for all sorts of things related to some action just performed, even showing menu descriptions when you move over a menu item in some programs ...
