Windows Explorer and Windows Photos rotate the 1000x1000 image losslessly, without removing any pixels.
Couldn't XnView do the same, or is such behavior wrong somehow (against jpeg specs, maybe)?
I don't need to rotate such images often (I can use Explorer for those rare cases), so mostly I'm just ...

Re: Lossless rotation for .heic, .dng, etc...
+1
HEIC is the default format not just on iPhones, but also on (most/all?) Samsung phones and possibly others too. So there might be billions of people snapping HEIC photos regularly.
It would be a very useful feature to have in XnView MP.

Re: exiftool.exe runs from AppData folder
I have security software that alerts me when something wants to run from a user-writable location (roughly anything outside of "Program Files" and "Windows" folders).

exiftool.exe runs from AppData folder
When you select ExifTool from a file's properties, the .exe runs from a temporary folder inside C:\Users\<username>\AppData\... (on Windows).
This happens whether XnView MP is installed in Program Files or as portable from a different location.
IDK if this qualifies as a bug, but it's improper ...

Re: Metadata - unify 'Clean metadata' dialog
100% agreed on all points.
I don't understand why the dialogs are different in different places. It looks like an oversight/bug. For a long time I thought XnView MP doesn't even support lossless metadata removal, because I mostly use the Viewer mode, which makes you re-encode and re-save after ...

Zoom at mouse pointer (like FastStone's magnifying glass)
I'm aware that "Zoom & Move" exists, but I think it's not as good.
Mainly because you're limited in how far you can pan from one side of the screen to the other. It's hard to describe, but try to open a large picture, zoom on one side and then--while still holding down the mouse button--try to move ...

That's great. I'm looking forward to testing the new version.
But excuse me if I insist on the ability to disable GPU acceleration. And not just for this problem, but I usually find that CPU decoding works better.

Yes, latest version on Windows.

Unusable for videos?
Whenever I navigate to a video, it's a 50% chance that Xnview MP freezes and I have to force close it.
Is anyone having success playing videos without freezes, glitches or crashes?
Here is a sample for you to try. Just a folder with a jpg and a mp4 video file. Try to open the jpg and then ...
