Re: How to edit text in parameters section?
The parameters tag is, as far as I know, exclusive to PNG files. You can use Exiftool to read and write string data in that tag from the command line, but obviously that's not inside XnViewMP.

Re: Search Dialog question
And if "Search in catalog only" is NOT CHECKED, what is the behavior of an empty folder field supposed to be? Does it search the boot drive, or the drive XnViewMP is installed on, or all mounted drives?
it starts on current folder

Re: Linux - Mouse problem with full screen
On windows, you are able to adjust the scroll speed of the mouse on a per-application basis. You might check if you can do this on Linux.
You can definitely adjust scroll speed globally:

I'm not sure what I can tell you... I can only try and answer what you actually asked based on what you actually said.
Thanks for your help:

Re: 'Create or update XMP sidecar' setting
Currently when a file is loaded, XnView checks always if there is file.xm or file.ext.xmp
Should this be according to the activation of the 'Create or update XMP sidecar' setting?
No, "creating or updating" a sidecar file should be a separate option.
You said it "ALWAYS" checks.
When opening ...

Re: Paste as Selection
There's a "Paste as new image" option, which will place the clipboard contents into a new image.
For pasting into an existing image, I don't think it does what you want.
You're supposed to be able to make a selection first, and then paste and the clipboard contents will be placed inside the ...

Spelling error in GUI
In the Edit XMP dialog, on the IPTC Contact tab, there is a field "Telephon number"
In English, the correct spelling is "Telephone" not "Telephon"
Unless someone once reported a single-pixel error in the GUI, perhaps this is the smallest bug ever reported?

Re: Importing files from the SD card from my camera
Okay,
After exhausting all my other options, I'm coming back to this.
I'll try to shed some light on this for you if I can. But first, am I reading this thread right, that your post today is over 2 years since the last one? I thought it might be a forum glitch.
The key here is the ...

Re: Copy & Paste
I just tried what you described myself (using XnViewMP 1.9.3), and it worked fine for me. This might have more to do with Word than XnViewMP.
Word has multiple ways to paste, and it is up to Word which way it uses. Try this:
First, instead of just pasting with Ctrl-V, there is a Paste icon on the ...

If you believe that, can you explain what it is actually doing when it behaves as I describe above?

Search Dialog question
Is there a way in the Search dialog (Ctrl-F) to search against all files in the catalog, regardless of folder/location?
If I leave the Folder field empty, XnViewMP does one of two things:
