Yes, 1.8.6. I don't have this rectangle.
And I see, that on your screenshot there is the same rectangle on 'No fit' option. In my case, I don't have it, only bold dot. Same with other items in menu, there are only ticks on items like Titlebar ...

Can't say about 1.8.4, but in 1.8.6 the bug is still here.

In 'Fit image to window' it is important, how you increase zoom to 200%. You can stretch the window by mouse to make window size 200% large, and image will fit window and zoom to 200%. Another case, when you click Zoom In button (or '+' key), so image zoom to 200%, but the window doesn't change ...

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.4 . Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
