I'm experiencing something similar here, but not just on change, but rather on resize or on change in 'fit to window' mode.
and yes, asdsee 3 was doing the resize faster, but i don't know which algorithm was used there though..

After using your product for some time I can tell what I still miss in the Fit/resize. When using fit to desktop, browsing though the folder is perfectly fine, but if I choose to display an image larger than desktop in 100%, by pressing *, for example, I get image resized, but shown in the same wind...
