I agree. Move to next folder is better IMO too.

I agree. Most used zoom modes are 100% and Fit to window. So maybe there should be a toolbar button command for this toggle function.

Personally i don't like any tabs until we really need! Because it does more complicate the UI usage and takes some line from view. (For example, i am disabling tabs of XnView already.)

I think a second "folders" tab will do complicate things needlessly.

More easy thumbnail selection by mouse drag

Currently, we cannot click the empty areas (that between thumbs) in no way. Every click does a file selection! Even if the thumbnail spacing at 20.

Clicking empty areas and draging rectangular file selection, is only posible from right side.

I think this should be posible from between the thumbs ...

"Sort by" and "Filter" status

It is good idea (more useful) to we see these options permanently in thumbs panel. Currently, we cannot see the status of these options (i mean, files sort by what or what filters is active) until we click the buttons.

So two alternative ways i suggest:
-One, is changing appearance of the buttons ...

I have an idea about folders: Maybe you can use an internal directory structure cache for displaying folders! Thus does not needed to re-read folders every time.

In a normal PC, files may change a lot, but folders change less. So caching that data is maybe a good idea for speed... (I am not talking ...

I think i didn't describe it correctly.

We can find desktop-located folders in two different locations (in folder trees): One, under the "Document and Settings".... and the other, in Root. Right?

The problem is: If i double-click a subfolder on root path (from file list), it didn't expand folder ...

Desktop located folders

If i click a subfolder of a desktop-located folder in thumbs panel (file list), tree view goes to its original location. (\Documents and Settins\*user*\Desktop)

Well... it shouldn't. :o

Speed improvements (folders pane and others)

Hi,

I am working with big (1000+ file) folders. I think XnView need, some viewing speed improvements in certain areas.

These are:

1- Folder pane: "Big" folder names appearing very slowly here. This can be improved.
2- Folder pane: "Off-screen" folders not processed! So when you scroll the tree ...

If you disable "High quality zoom" options, speed is icreased!

So, i think the problem is relevant to this algorithm.

Also -another suggestion- "read one image ahead" options must be work backward too!... (Even more than "one" image.)
