Oh, sorry, I found the Image > Draw function... It actually has both outline AND shadow.
I prefer the toolbar method via Edit > Add Text however. The Draw panel is a little clunky.

Re: Adding text to JPEG images
Adding text to images makes XnView an easy option for creating memes!
However, is it possible to have some extra features in that regard? Or do we have an addon for MP that will work?

Ah, that's what I figured, but I thought I would put this out there for a user-case. Thanks, Pierre.

Viewing Android DCIM
When I get a lot of photos on my Android phone, I plug it into a usb cable to my computer and file-move them from my phone to my Windows computer.
However, I have to use Windows Explorer to do this, because XnViewMP won't view the contents of the Android file structure.
Neither can I drag-n-drop ...

Favourites Menu functionality
The Favourites Menu could use a little love.
- Manually arrange folders - you *can* manually arrange items in subdirectories, but not in the root of the tree.
- Perhaps the good ole' ctrl+up and ctrl+down for rearranging items by the keyboard?
- Maybe allow various icons for the folders in the tree ...

Re: XnPhotoMontage
Pierre,
So, what I'm imagining is kind of spectacular; let me try and describe it.
First, you open the XnPhotoMontage window. There are controls to set the paper size.
Imagine your window with some rulers on the edges like in Photoshop. Imagine dragging some thick black lines onto the canvas just ...

For many years now I have used XnViewMP and I even stopped looking for alternatives years ago. It's the best and fastest image browser and I love it.
Now for my spiel. XnViewMP needs a better printing options dialogue.

Re: Toolbar Button Parameters
Pierre,
Is this fixed yet, perhaps? I am dreaming of being able to specify parameters to custom toolbar buttons.
Basically, I have some autohotkey scripts I want to run on the files by selecting them and pushing the toolbar button. But I need to supply the filename or filename's directory path as ...

Marek,
Well, it's working now; I don't know why. Running version 0.95 from Jan 15, 2020.

Re: Does not appear in context menu
Marek,
No, no problem before I upgraded to Win10, at least. I don't use the Explorer context menu very often for conversion - mostly I do it through XnViewMP itself. I can't say if it ever showed in the Win10 context menu.
I CAN attest that XnConvert has an entry in the registry at HKCR\Directory ...

Does not appear in context menu
I've installed XnConvert 1.83 x64 and checked the setting to add it to the Windows context menu, but it does not appear. Am I doing something wrong?

Convert pdf
For some reason, when I right-click on a pdf and look for Convert Into... on the context menu, it is grayed out. It didn't used to be - is there some setting or something I am missing?

Re: xnview mp 0.84 is fast, 0.85 is slow
Not for me, actually, I have 1033 fonts installed - maybe that doesn't qualify as a lot.
I have at times noticed lagginess but most of the time MP is blazing fast. Now I'm only saying this (as it isn't my thread) because I think it's probably a windows issue somehow.

Re: xnview mp 0.84 is fast, 0.85 is slow
I'm running 0.94 and don't have any lag at all loading images. They all open instantly, even 5mb jpegs. (running Windows 7)
I've always loved how fast MP is. I even use MP instead of Adobe Bridge. MP is soooo fast.
Now, I admit, it will take a tad bit longer if you load a directory full of images ...
