Text colour of selected items such as browser display and menus

XnV MP works great for me, but there is one ongoing nuisance in dark mode (which I have to use nowadays because of my developing cataracts). Filenames in the browser display, and other selectable items, such as in menus, are perfectly clear as long as they aren't selected (i.e., they're black on lig...

Re: xnshell x64 cannot register dll [SOLVED]

As reported on another thread, I finally tried installing FastPreview, which actually worked, and then I was able to install XnShell x64 just fine and it works okay at last (after a few years now)! :D

Re: XnView Shell Extension (Support & Development)

I'd still been unable to install the x64 XnShell right up to today on my Win8 x64 system. However, I got ideas after somebody had posted in another thread here, that XnShell x64 had finally installed okay on their system after they had installed Sage Thumbs. So I tried installing Sage Thumbs but act...

Re: xnshell x64 cannot register dll [NOT solved!]

I tried installing Sage Thumbs, but unfortunately it too fails with the same error message, so I'm still without functional XnShell on my Win8 x64 system.

Re: XnView Shell Extension

The shell extension hasn't been working for me for ages now - I see now that it's probably because of my change over to x64 Windows 7 some time ago. I've now attempted to install the 64-bit shell extension, after successfully unregistering the 32-bit version, but attempts to register the 64-bit vers...

Thank you, 'Bugmenot'! Actually the horse has already bolted, for I've registered my copy of Beyond Compare, which, in any case, on the basis of a quick glance at the Kanastacorp site, appears to give more options and flexibility in control of the sync process. Anyway, this may be useful for others ...

Thank you, XnTrique. I'll look into the Wikipedia listings that you've pointed to. However, I note that they are nearly all server-side applications, whereas my preference really is to have a local working version of my gallery (as now), which I synchronize with the website copy. But anyway, I'll se...

Yes, thank you John and Pierre. What a nice perk to come up with from giving the above update on my situation! I've just done a trial sync with Beyond Compare, resulting in a re-uploading of ALL the photos on my Broad Horizon Photos site - over 4,000 including thumbnails, about 150 MB total, and it ...

Brilliant, John! Many thanks for that tip. It looks as though Beyond Compare is much more a synchronization program that happens to do FTP, rather than an FTP program for which synchronization is just a 'bit on the side', as is Fast Track FTP. Whether I'd like its FTP interface I don't know yet, but...

I've just noticed this topic, having forgotten all about it, and it's best that I add an update. I haven't given up on my Broad Horizon Photos site, though it has been pretty excessive work for me. My current way of handling batches of new photos is, first, to batch-rename them all in XnView to get ...

Actually I found that it was apparently not Photo Mechanic that put the crazy IPTC dates on the photos of mine, and so at the moment I can't even rule out XnView as the culprit, though basically I just don't know where it's come from, especially as it's in only a certain proportion of my photos and ...

I should add a caution for those trying out Photo Mechanic. I've found that it has a bug in the IPTC date field in the individual photo IPTC dialog, such that by default a completely spurious date is shown, and presumably unless you correct this for each photo before saving any IPTC data it could wi...

I've actually at last found a photos manager which really does have powerful IPTC batch processing ability including search & replace. It comes at quite a price, but it is really excellent in many ways. That is, Photo Mechanic , which, although quite expensive, at least does allow you to download an...

Still looking for a decent photo gallery program!

After a huge amount of work and seemingly endless frustrations because of incomplete implementation of every program that I've tried, I'm now seriously considering abandoning my new photo site Broad Horizon Photos , even before it's really started taking off. Just preparing one batch of, say, 70 pho...

Although I use XnView now for almost all my photo image management functions, I don't use it for IPTC metadata entering / editing, because, despite some bugs and the odd missing bits, Abander PhotosControl is MUCH better for that. I would like to see a similar arrangement in XnView, so that I can us...
