well, i have not actively clicked on something like a warning box or a setting turning that off. there wasn't something like that.

of course if usually something like that is supposed to pop up, then this problem seems aknowledged by the programmer and my post here was not ...

I am using XnView for a few weeks now, and I am very impressed. Even though it offers so many functions it still manages to be a rather easy tool I could handle immediately. Kudos to the programmer(s)!

I'd have a suggestion though, which is also just a question in case that's already ...
