I would love this one too !
Gallery is a PHP app for which several ways to upload pictures already exists.
Recently, one dev produced the lightroom plugin for Gallery 2. So having one for XnView would be a nice complement.

Yes, that's the idea !
I would just make the 4 images a little bigger (and the frame a little smaller) so that we have a better reading of the 4 small images and so better finding what the video is just from ...

Show 4 images for movie thumbnails
Right now, movie thumbnails show only one frame.
I would like to have the movies shown with 4 frames (something like folders). Those 4 frames should be selected at 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 and 4/5 of the movie length so that we have a good overview of it in 4 frames.

Re: Like you want
• The thumbnails within the 4-in-1 are generally very bad, not only in XnView,
I guess it's because they are created by Windows, and it doesn't resize them properly according to the folder thumbnail size.
- I can notice the same phenomenon in Total Commander,
while I have set XnView (or another ...

Database explorer
Since many pictures are indexed, XnView can provide different ways to browse the picture :
By folder (already implemented)
By keyword (link this to categories)
By date
By location (use the IPTC data (country, state, town, location)
By technical data (ISO, aperture, lens, speed, and so on ...

Complete XMP support
For many file formats, all data that can not be stored in the file itself is stored in a sidecar XMP file. Those files contain IPTC data for RAW files or even Lightroom operation for any kind of file.
I would love that :
XnView reads the content of those files to show IPTC data for RAW files ...

Slideshows and Ken Burns effect
I am not fond of the multitude of effects found to create slideshows.
I keep using a simple "fade" to go from one image to another.
There is however a very nice effect that I like very much for picture : the Ken Burns effect.
It is a very subtle effect consisting of a light zoom in or zoom out ...
