Re: HEIF/HEIC on Linux?

Ah I found I needed to install libheif-dev specifically to get this to work.

On Fedora this package is named libheif-devel

So: sudo dnf install libheif-devel

Some additional (Fedora) libraries I have found to be useful to load heic/heif when using other image viewing programs such at ...

Flathub not up to date

I'm helping a friend update XnViewMP because he is complaining about recurring update messages within XnView.

Meanwhile, the Flathub version is not up-to-date (stuck at 1.4.4), so I had to download the AppImage version.

This is just an FYI . . .

Thanks for the continued great work on XnView!

Re: Appimage fails on Fedora 35

The Flatpak seems to lag behind the software's official release cadence.

And I should have mentioned, mahy people have problems with various Flatpak system integrations and permissions.

Not everyone knows about Flatseal, for example.

It would be great if XnView offered a (current) repo or ...

Re: Appimage fails on Fedora 35

Hi @wisnoskij

Ah, I found an flatpack which must just include libnsl because it runs on my system without any tinkering.

Unfortunately, a day or two ago the latest flapak exposed in the Software manager in Fedora (i.e. Gnome-Software) showed only XnView MP 1.01 .

Just before writing this post ...

Re: Appimage fails on Fedora 35

Hi Pierre:

it seems that you have to install libnsl

AppImages are supposed to be self contained , right?

Today I tried again with the newest XnView 1.3 AppImage on a newly installed Fedora 37 (beta) machine, available at https://download.xnview.com/XnView_MP.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage

This ...

Fedora 35: Appimage doesn't run

I am trying to run XnViewMP from your Appimage on Fedora 35.

I downloaded XnView_MP.glibc2.18-x86_64.AppImage and it will not run, in spite of having execute privileges.

When running from terminal to assess I get
/tmp/.mount_XnViewdr7VSf/usr/XnView/XnView: error while loading shared libraries ...

Re: Feat. Req: more options for output fldr in batch procces

No, no ! - just yesterday instead of converting some RAW files in C:\output\myTempFolderForNewProject I accidentally converted them in C:\Output

Having a checkbox enabled (by default or left checked from the previous session) which will blindly delete all the files from destination will be a ...

Feat. Req: more options for output fldr in batch proccessing

I would like to be able to:

delete * from the output folder prior to starting a batch operation

This would make it easier to deal with all currently transformed images going to a "standardized" folder I use for such operations without needing to remember to clear the folder first . . . or (worse ...

Re: Smallest request ever: Use 'real' copyright text logo

Indeed, usage of (c) apparently has no legal meaning in the US.

Some copyright attorneys say that using verbiage like "Copyright (c) 2010" can actually invalidate a copyright claim . . . or at least make it far more difficult and expensive to enforce.

If Pierre cannot use © for some reason, it ...

That is good news. Considering there are a number of other enhancement requests for text annotations, I hope you will consider those too. Especially mine ;-)

make "browse for folder" resizeable

Until you have time to add suggested slide show features like those at
http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=16280

could you consider "quickly" making the "browse for folder" dialog box resizeable?

The dialog to which I am referring is in Slide Show / Add Folder (button).

Indeed, perhaps ...

Re: About time for Left/Center/Right "Add Text" ca

For the years I've been using your program and seeing you've nailed down all other trivial features, I'd say it's time you added Left/Center/Right text callout alignment.

I agree, but your vehemence is a little over the top. Keep in mind this is not a commercial product for which you have to pay ...

adding images/folders to slideshow

It would be great to have a additional ways to add images or folders to slideshows.

Two options I think you should consider:

1. context menu (right-click an image or folder) option: "add to slideshow" -- this would add the files to a slideshow even before opening the slideshow dialog.

2. drag and ...
