Okay, I discovered the following:

According to the IPTC article on the german Wikipedia-site this standard allows a maximum of 64 characters per keyword - including spaces as well!

So the splitting of keywords which include spaces seems to be a "misbehaviour" of XnView, right?

I use iTag for writing IPTC and XMP keywords to my imagefiles. If I write more than one Keyword and separate them by a blank space (for example "Uncle Walter") it works fine so far. It's displayed correctly in XnView's IPTC-Tab in the preview pane as "Uncle Walter". But when I make changes ...
