Re: Microsoft updates *facepalm*
This is an excellent example of why I refuse to touch win10 and it's inexcusable forced updates bullshit.

Re: Free GIF Animators
Gimp and it's numerous forks should be included in this list, as they allow you to create and edit animated images (including gifs and apngs). Some require a plugin for it, but many have it built in (in fact, I think all of them have it built in in more recent versions).

Re: Nouns, Verbs, Prepositions & Logins
"Log" is, among other things, a verb, originally referring to entering events or data into a journal or log book, and evolving into logging a person's entry into a building or job etc. While "login" is at best a name for the button, "log in" is what it does, it allows you to log in to the site, syno...

Odd, since I'm currently ON newsgroup.xnview. (Hell, this thread is the first I've become aware that forum.xnview even exists.)

Re: Blur a small section of image
You can apply blur to small areas by selecting trhem before starting the filter. As far as the filters go, plain blur probably won't be effective. There are however other blurring filter; average, gaussian blur, soften, and while not technically blurs maximum and minimum. Soften is even less effecti...

Re: Text on Images
You can set the size to anything, just type the number into the field manually instead of choosing it from the dropdown. When using the "add text" function, you can't change the text after it's been applied. All you can do is undo the whole thing & do it over. However, if you instead use the paint t...

Re: convert olny bright gray to color
Firstly, this can be done entirely within xnview, though the process can be tedious if you're changing a lot of colors. Take your greyscale image, then go image->convert to colors and set the # of colors to match the # of grayscale "colors". Now image->edit palette (or just ctrl+m). From here just d...

Try installing/reinstalling the archive plugin, see if that has any effect: http://www.xnview.com/download/addons/archive.zip

...or making it available for download via a clickable link, without having to open a web file sharing account? Like I said in my earlier post, there are some sites, like sendspace, which don't require any signup. I use sendspace regularly and have never signed up for anything on it. You just go th...

Re: Save JPG At 'Original' Quality
This already exists, it's in the dialog for the jpg settings (though not on the export dialog). You'll see a bunch of checkboxes for keeping various metadata, at the bottom of those is one for using estimated original quality.CreativeWorld wrote:Could you add JPEG quality estimation to the classic version too?

Yes, ecw/enhanced compressed wavelet format can be both read/written with xnview, I use it myself sometimes.
If you are having problems, you probably downloaded a version of xnview without the plugin: http://www.xnview.com/en/xnview/#addons

XnviewMP is a significantly different program from normal xnview. It doesn't seem to have any way to create a multipage image.pbenner wrote:I could not find the Tools->Multipage option in xnviewMP/Mac .....

Re: JPE Routine
It's extremely pointless for sony to be doing this at all. For one thing, the low res pic is completely redundant. You already have the high res pic for quality and the thumbnail for speed. If you wind up wanting a low res pic for the web or whatever, you can easily reduce the large one. If they did...

Re: Convert MP4 to animated GIF
I found that gimp can convert from mp4 to gif, although you need to install the gimp animation plugin as well as gimp itself (it should also be able to convert to apng if you grab the gimp apng plugin while you're at it. Here's a tutorial : http://www.slideshare.net/Keef21Moon/how-to-make-a-gif-from...
