Changing format from animated bmp to gif

My first post here.....hope I don't ask a dumb question. Lol
I have a "bmp" animated image in "My Pictures" folder. How would I change it to a "gif" and retain the animation?
Many thanks......nice to meet you all. I plan on being a "regular".
