Re: Scanning with XnView
Looks like a common moire pattern which is typical for most polygraphic imprints. HP's software could have some embedded functions for automatic image enhancement (e.g. descreen).

XnView won't read some JPEGs
for example:
http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/3130 ... ycool5.jpg
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/4831/t ... withme.jpg
works fine with ACDSee 10

Re: XnView can't open a few photos at once
XnView 1.96.2
Options: General -> "Only one instance" enabled, View -> "Only one window view opened" disabled
Unconfirmed. XnView opens all selected files in separate tabs (or separate processes if "one instance" option is disabled). No any messages appears.

copying bug (?)
I have 2 directories with identically named files. I'm selecting all/some files in one of them, pressing Ctrl+C, going to another directory, pressing Ctrl+V. XnView doesn't ask anything (about existing files and their replacement) and copies new files with "copy" filename suffix added.

I agree too.iustinian wrote:I subscribe to the frustration.
It takes 3x times longer to do batch scanning this way.
