Re: XnViewMP beta 0.26
Pierre, when you say "you can store it..." does that mean users can customize it? What are the pros and cons? Would saving to the file slows down the search? Can user choose to save to both? (BTW, I don't see where you customize this). My main concern is how to back up the DB if machine crash. If ...

Re: XnViewMP beta 0.26
Thanks Pierre. Just curious, so, then, all the data of a file is embeded within the file itself, right? So, when a file is moved from one machine to another, or when the machine crashes and I need to rebuild it, then, how do I backup the xnview db? Please explain how this process works? Thanks.

Re: XnViewMP beta 0.26
Yes, I saw that post, it was 6months ago. Wondering any progress? In order for me to migrate over, I really don't want to spend another 48hrs trying to keywords them again. Any progress? BTW, as far as the speed, would it slow down the search?
Sincerely,
Perry

Meta data handling and Migration tool
I really like the new MP a lot! Thanks Pierre! There is only 1 biggest request, is a importer for previous 1000s of saved category.db info!! Without this, I can not migrate over! It will be nice to also build in a way to backup these critical info instead of just going to find those files to backup ...

Re: plugins and addons
I am sorry, I was expecting the swf to play the video, but I guess it only display 1 frame? Well, if so, I did it correctly, but now just disappointed.
As far as zip file, yes, I did copy the zip32.dll and the other 2 files into the plugin directory. I can see it shows up in the list under plugin ...

All,
Anyone know what I am doing wrong with installation of any of these additions?

Re: Photo Organization - Category
fYI I did go ahead with remapping the cache, and now everything is on the user folder. Now I just need to back up the user folder and it should be fine.

Re: Photo Organization - Category
Well, I am even more confused than you and scared to do something stupid. I went to user folder and found there is a folder named xnview and low and behold, I found the xnview.db, category.db and xnview.ini within that folder! However, the xnview.db within that folder was dated 3days ago probably ...

Re: Videos (.mov, .avi...) don't show onscreen
OK,try this, open an start avi or wmv type of video that you know for sure is a standard DV.avi or wmv format. Then, click to the other non-standard one to see if they play. If this fail, then, perhaps there is some file association you need to specify in the option setup.

Re: Categories - annoying behavior
I think you are doing the category wrong. To assign category, you either choose from the view menu or the "Preview...Category" tab instead of "category" bookmark. That is for viewing after category for photos are set.

Re: Videos (.mov, .avi...) don't show onscreen
These avi, mov are just containers, you need to have the appropriate decoders in order to see them. User MediaInfo (do a websearch) and download it to find out what is the real encoder, then, search to find a decoder. After installation, you should be able to view them in xnView.
