after playing some around and setting a lot of things back and forth... i uninstalled XNview totally and reinstalled it very fresh.
Now the problem is gone. Maybe after all that upgrading from since i'm using xnview it somehow messed something up.

My search in the forum didn't helped me and so I hope to find help here.
XNview totally ignores the file types I choose in the File List-options dialogue. I noticed it first when xnview showed me textfiles in the list. But I did made a test now and even when I uncheck every file type ...

I have a bunch of pictures I need to check. Problem is, that there are copies of images where the downloader added a .1, .2 etc. to the file name after the extension.
