Small gap at the far right of the screen? (windows vista)

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find it. XnView won't fully maximized in Windows Vista; it always shows a small gap at the right edge of the screen. In view mode, browser window can be seen in the background between the gap. Is there any solution to make this gap disappear? Brow...

Horizontal tearing when move picture up/down

Hi I've had this flickering horizontal line which appears every time I move a picture up/down in viewer mode. This tearing is the same kind that appears in PC games which usually can be solved by enable V-sync. However, in the case of XnView, enabling V-sync does not help at all. I'd like to know wh...

JPEGCrop

You could give JPEGCrop a try. JPEGCrop is a small stanalone program (~450 kb) which can losslessly rotate & crop picture in a factor of 8 pixels. However, with some pictures, it uses a factor of 16 pixels (heard that it has something to do with 'MCU boundaries' of each picture file but I don't actu...

A new format eh? As broadband speed is improving and digital storage is also increasing, I see less necessity of having a new picture format. Anyone who already tried this HD Photo have any opinion to share? How much more efficient does it provides compare to JPEG? Is it, like, uses two times less s...

Really strange... I get " Not Found : the requested URL /angie_harmon/angie4.jpg was not found on this server" with Opera 8.01 on your first link... but it opens without problem with Internet Explorer. I also got "Not Found" message. That website probably prevents hot-linking. If you click a link f...

Additionally, with some 1-bit files, 4-bit mode could give better compression. For example, this 1-bit GIF file . I tried compressing it with all bit depth. 1-bit mode gives the worst compression whereas 4-bit mode produces the smallest filesize. ( results ) I found a post about this behaviour in an...

I have never seen a case where 8bit depth achieved a smaller file than 2 or 4bit depth. I tested with this file . It is 4-bit GIF file containing 15 colours. I converted it to PNG with PNGOUT (12/26/2005 version) which resulted in 8-bit file is smaller than 4-bit file. These are screentshots of res...
