Workaround

good morning,

"Þ" is very common in icelandic lanuages *) for village names (and so on).
But I have only ~60 pictures with such a comment and so I can add a blank char as workaround for next weeks.
I need other functionality more urgently:

Okay. I used MS "Character Map" in order to choose this char from a Unicode font and copy'n'paste. But if I use a non-unicode font like Courier it doesn't work also.

There are existing rules/offical standards which char sets allowed for JPEG-Comment, EXIF-User-Comment or IPTC-Caption?

I have such a problem some years ago: At that time not all windows fonts support the whole Unicode standard. The second problem is that some programms/tools use their own fonts.
But nowadays modern OS support normally Unicode.

Which font does XnView use?

I have no question mark. Comment is complete empty.

For U+0126 or U+0123 XnView shows not the correct characters. It shows a normal "g" and a normal "H" - but that an other problem.

If you see a question mark, then your font(s) doesn't support this character.

iceandic letter Thorn

Hi Pierre,

it's really strange...
"street to Þórsmörk" or "XÞórsmörk" work!

"Þ" work NOT!

So - it seems that the iclandic char "Þ" (U+00DE: Latin Capital Letter Thorn) at the first position is the problem.

Cache problem?

Hi pierre,

yes - it was enabled. Now I disabled the cache and at the moment I can't produce this bug. Therefore it seems to be a cache problem!?

RC1: Label with comments not displayed

Hi Pierre

sorry - I'm at work and made only a short test. This test was not very meaningful.

E.g. if I use "set comment" or "Copy IPTC caption to comment" then labels with comments are displayed. Then e.g. close XNView and start XNView - all comments are not shown. Rarely comments displayed.

I ...
