Re: How to change, or/and create new keyboard shortcuts

Is there no reference to the command-line switches that XnViewMP responds to? in XnView MP, you have only: -ini file.ini -slide file.sld -filelist list.txt -capture As they do for unused pages in the frontispieces of many printed books, would you consider putting ' This tab is left blank intentiona...

Re: How to change, or/and create new keyboard shortcuts

Four years later and the command-line switches are just as obscure. Yes, xnviewmp.exe -capture=desktop,d:\users\public\pictures\your_filename_###.jpg actually works, but what else is there? And no, Help, About, 'Command line' tab - is blank. The ? control is unwilling to explain anything. Slashed ci...

Re: Image Print size in cm

In May, 2011 this suggestion arose, but there's been no progress in seven (7) years. :( I recently struggled when copying a graphic into a Word document, but no metric units* were available in MP. XnV and MP produced different sizes from the same file Ctrl-C'ed graphic into a Word page, XnV looking ...

Re: Nouns, Verbs, Prepositions & Logins

Indeed, a 'log book' was devised to record the passage of a number of logs - timber, wooden logs - tied to a rope that was dropped over the side of a ship at sea to measure speed. Logs tied at fixed spaces on the rope meant that in a certain period of time, measured by a sand-glass, I expect, a cert...

Re: Evidence of Donation

How are we going, Pierre?
A donation 'thank you' marker.
Helmut and I are trying to start a revolution - to your benefit.
I don't mind minimal additional text in title-bar - what about a symbol? A D[tick]* symbol?
*misnamed 'checkmark' to the USAsians.

Is there a 'thank you' international emoji?

Re: Nouns, Verbs, Prepositions & Logins

Misconceptions in this wonderful language of ours obtain every day, like everyday, may or may not, aggravate, agreeance, infer, incredulous, disinterested, fulsome, irregardless, literally, criteria, simplistic, effect/affect, lie/lay, fewer versus less; many more.. With Microsoft's matured use of S...

Evidence of Donation

I'd like to make a donation to Pierre and his collaborators for his XnV programs but I would like some evidence of my contribution. I'd like some integrated evidence of my being a donor because: 1. I often forget what programs I've contributed to (and only occasionally do I want to do it repeatedly....

Nouns, Verbs, Prepositions & Logins

Just redirectiing nerdiness away from tech for a moment, in the light of the Microsoft grammarians' managing to influence Windows 10's Start menu - an item on the user's icon on the far left on the Start menu is now 'Sign out', 'Sign' being the verb, the action, that is offered as a choice, and 'out...

Re: Tidying up straightened book pages

I appreciate that you've done the image-capture already, but it might be worth starting again and saving yourself all the processing discovered here. The vehicle I'd suggest your doing the job again with is Office Lens - an app. Windows Phone, iPhone, other. It straightens up trapeziums that the cam...

Re: Resize (Batch) Inconsistent in Results

You're a great curator, XnTriq. :) Many thanks. I'm settling in to the new meme determining my understanding of resizing, Hs and Ws, and fits. (BTW, the MP Ctrl-C usage still mystifies me. If I go outside to admire my new car, don't don't go out and admire my new car's data.. An image is, to all int...

Re: Resize (Batch) Inconsistent in Results

Yes, XnTriq, that seems to have solved the matter - oddly enough. I stayed away from that technique because it implied that the output would be square. 800x800 but with 'Keep ratio'. Which would be subordinate? I suspect I'll just have to put it down to the dialect of English called 'French'. :? Qui...

Resize (Batch) Inconsistent in Results

For quite a while now, XnView has failed to properly resize all selected photos in batch operations. It's now worth documenting, I believe. Upon selecting a set of random photos, images of all shapes and sizes, I have, today, set a batch process running that I hoped would output resized images with ...

Re: Show viewing offset in image information

Hi, -snip- Thanks, Yossi About "open images from different directories" - you can do that by eg. using Tag box. [emphasis/colour added] About the other thing: you said that "it's easier to spot differences when comparing images by alternating between them" - why that? Do you want to see where the i...

Re: iPhone Photos Appear To Be Overweight

Thanks for the suggestion, cday, but - no. Nothing much changed. I tried again with the exact set of jpeg options that you illustrated, even on a different set of originals, and the proportions were about the same. 42 MB for 24 files versus 24 megs for the same 100% resized output. In fact, with not...

iPhone Photos Appear To Be Overweight

Jpeg photos here imported from an iPhone 4 can be resized by XnView, by '100%', becoming files of half their former size - without any apparent visual or dimensional changes. These photos originate from iOS vn 6.1.3 in an iPhone 4; they are imported via Windows Live Photo Gallery 2012 and manipulate...
