Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

There is no Pierre participating in this discussion, or aren't you even aware of that? :? It's just been you and I going back and forth for days now. Pierre was first to respond to you. Take a look at his signature. xnview = Author of XnView = Pierre I'm just a regular user who happens to volunteer...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I already fold you - yes, those settings are correct. No program is worth this much trouble. Simple solution - I'll switch to FastStone, which actually works. My question is directed at Pierre (= developer of XnView). So if someone has “reading comprehen...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

@Pierre: Are these settings activated by default?
  • Keep date/time for saving in ToolsOptions…GeneralFile Operations
  • Keep original date/time attributes in ToolsOptions…BrowserMisc.

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

Yes, all those settings are correct. “Correct” means they are activated? In case your installation of XnView is configured not to update the date/time of an edited file, you should turn both settings off. You could then use BulkFileChanger to change the modified timestamp of files from multiple fol...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

As I said, I already reset the cache for thumbnails in Windows. We did everything possible with Windows over the course of 3 hrs with Microsoft on the phone, Again, this problem ONLY happens in XNview, not in any other program. If that's the fix, I'll have to dump Xnview because there are thousands...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

It used to work just fine, but something changed. A Google search for “ windows 10 update thumbnails not working ” returns 300'000'000 results :-| Microsoft Developer Blogs: Why does Explorer show a thumbnail for my image that's different from the image? Ghacks: All you need to know about thumbnail...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

Please make sure to activate Rebuild embedded thumbnail in Tools → Options… → Read/Write → Write → JPEG. That's already checked off. See attached picture. That's odd. Could you please upload/attach the file in question ( 01.jpg )? XnView's browser allows you to Recreate EXIF thumbnail (Edit → Recre...

Re: Help badly needed - thumbnails are acting crazy!

I sent you this in an email. You can attach files to your posts. I noticed that if I change an image (crop, rotate, contrast, etc) using Gimp or FastStone (which I downloaded for testing), the problem does not happen. It only happens when using Xnview - any version - 1.92, 2.36, 2.5, etc. I've trie...

Re: R-Click displays unexpected context menu

The mouse cursor changes from the pointer to the context menu! But I did once see the hand briefly?? And you were keeping the right mouse button pressed? The hand appears very briefly when zoomed in then the context menu appears, could it possibly actually be an earlier version of the Shell Extensi...

Re: R-Click displays unexpected context menu

It's MP's regular context menu for view mode. Please take a look at screenshots of the shell extension for comparison. If the dimensions of the viewed image are smaller than or equal to XnView's window size, a right mouse button click on the image invokes the context menu. If the dimensions of the v...

Re: Webp export transparency

This file: https://imgur.com/a/B7J38rb If you open it in xnview, the background is transparent, but if you try to export to webp, it's no longer transparent. Palette-based PNGs with an alpha channel have to be converted to truecolor with alpha channel in order for transparency to be preserved durin...
