Please note: it is the combination of Exif-DateTimeOriginal and Exif-ModifyDate which caused the reported problem in v0.48:

I'm afraid this problem is related to the latest fix for http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=24993 in v0.50.

The "fix" in v0.50 now breaks the whole "EXIF:Date Taken" feature: even a complete Exif-DateTimeOriginal is not shown at all...

Thanks for providing me with the v0.40-preview. This new version has the same problem as v0.39. Both versions crash on startup or while changing directories if the mentioned settings are valid. Please find attached the Windows dump infos:
