Sorry: after removing \plugins\webp.dll the message does not appear but xnviewmp still crashes.

Installation of windows setup version 0.83, 32 bit, on Win XP + service Pack 3 ended with
"The procedure entry point Initialize CriticalSectionEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
XnviewMP window appeared and crashed after first attempt to click on a folder.

I seems complicated to unistall libpng15. I tried
> sudo rpm -e libpng-1.5.10-1.fc17.i686

I installed XnViewMP-051 to a new Fedora 17 and get
[elias@localhost ~]$ XnView/xnview.sh
/home/elias/XnView/XnView: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

In fact, a newer version is installed in Fedora 17:
[root@localhost ...

I extracted the extralibs into XnViewMP-035/libs and version 0.35 works now fine. Great!

Every reading of a directory leads to crash:
[elias ~]> XnViewMP-034/xnview.sh /usr/bin
[elias ~]> XnViewMP-034/xnview.sh EXPERIMENT/
both crash, but
[elias ~]> XnViewMP-034/xnview.sh EXPERIMENT/04451.jpg
runs until I touch "File" or "Browse". I can also do Image -> Flip -> Save as successfully ...

Tried again: removed .xnviewmp and installed fresh 0.34. Again

I installed versions 0.33 and later 0.34 of http://download.xnview.com/XnViewMP-linux.tgz
on Fedora 14, followed the instructions in README and also tried to erase .xnviewmp
Nevertheless, there is a problem with these versions:

I have photo collections, with IPTC captions written on an XP machine with non-latin (iso8859-8) encoding.
When they are copied to a linux with locale utf-8, the caption is ...

I extracted version 0.26 into a dir on a machine with Fedora 9 and try to launch it by running xnview.sh :

The browser appears for a second, then crashes after

Thank you for the quick and positive reply.

I personally will be happy to have an option to read an existing IPTC Caption in a given encoding
(chosen from a menu), since I already have thousands of old photos with captions and I dont want
to loose them.
