In Batch Convert, the naming template offers, under the right triangle, some individual symbols for formatting dates.
* Can I suggest a few popular combinations are provided as well as the individual letters, I'm thinking particularly of Y-m-d-H-M-S and Y_m_d_H_M_S as that would save on manual entry ...

Re: 1.9.8 Batch Convert / EXIF Thumbnails not generated
Ah I see what's happened: Preserve Metadata has become unticked - I must have done that for a quick task!
That does explain it (I think elsewhere I raised the idea that Create Thumbnail should be adhered to when Preserve Metadata is unticked)

1.9.8 Batch Convert / EXIF Thumbnails not generated
When I do a batch convert JPG to JPG in 1.9.8, EXIF thumbnails appear not to be generated, or perhaps are unreadible. They were properly done in prior versions. However, EXIF thumbs are created when manually saving an image.

Re: Skip files of the same name when duplicating batch conversions to avoid reloading files repeatedly
To reproduce, copy say 10 image files F of size to a temporary folder T. Then batch convert F to T selecting skip and you'll find they are processed slowly and the end log reports them being loaded but the save action skipped.
The problem is that the output filename is only known after reading ...

Re: Skip files of the same name when duplicating batch conversions to avoid reloading files repeatedly
This continues to be a problem for me. If you're converting 10000 images and have to stop it, then to resume it you'll want to do the same images again but skip the existing target ones. However to skip them xnview (1.9.8 tested) loads-converts them first and only then on save finds out they exist and ...

... press Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+V to copy the image; the thumbnail doesn't display.
2) Press F5 to update and it should display correctly.
3) Select the copied PNG image and press Ctrl+U to convert it to JPG; the thumbnail still doesn't display.
4) Press F5 again to update and it should display correctly.

... like MP4 so the files are easy to share and not too big.
If you ever run into cant play video problems after recording with some tools, it usually comes down to the format or codec issues. Last time this happened, I had to convert my videos with a converter so anyone could watch them without issues.

Re: MacOS Sonoma 14.5 HDR support? AVIF and JXL tonemapping not working
Blender 5.0 (open source) allows HDR visualization of HLG and PQ encoded content.
Google's libultraHDR allows to convert Gain Map images to PQ or HLG.
From my understanding, these are the required software bases.
An probably unrealistic but potentially neat alternative would be to build the image ...
